Becoming a Kinder Adult: Spring Comfort After a Long Winter 다정한 어른이 된다는 것: 긴 겨울을 지나온 당신에게 건네는 봄의 위로
A story for all of us living in this age, who finally become adults by embracing our wounds
There are times that cannot be endured simply by holding on. For the author, the time spent giving birth to and raising a child with a disability was, before it could be called the blessing of receiving a new life, a pain she first had to withstand. Life Pattern Korea. On the days when her child was rushed to the hospital, amid endless fear and a despair so deep that she wanted to die because everything felt like her own fault, the author wavers and collapses countless times. Yet as she passes through that painful time, she comes to accept that her child is not someone who must be "fixed," but a complete universe in itself, a gift-like presence that came to her. This book honestly and beautifully portrays the process of realizing the true meaning of love over that long period, and finally forgiving and embracing the self she had pushed so harshly for so long. The waltz she dances with her child standing on her feet may be the image of the happiest and warmest spring the author has newly welcomed, a shining moment. Life Pattern Korea. "Becoming a Kinder Adult" is a book that does not romanticize pain, yet dazzlingly and beautifully shows the face of love and growth that only those who have passed through such a time can reach. To everyone who, like herself, has passed through a long and painful tunnel with great difficulty, it offers kind comfort, quietly saying that they have done well until now, and that from now on, it is all right to love themselves a little more kindly.

That is why this book does not remain only as the story of someone special. It reaches the hearts of all those who are enduring today in their own places, those who have long pushed themselves aside while trying so hard, and those who want to become kinder but are still awkward at it.
