Marigold Mind Laundry 메리골드 마음 세탁소 (2025 Revised)
A K-healing “literary therapy” that has captured readers and media worldwide.
Now released in a durable hardcover meant to be treasured for years.
Published in ten countries—including Japan, China, France, Italy, and Brazil—and licensed in twenty, Marigold Mind Laundry has, within a year and seven months, risen to represent Korean literature from its unrivaled K-healing throne. Its English edition from Penguin Random House drew notice even from the British weekly The Economist. At Kinokuniya Singapore it claimed the No. 1 overall spot, and in Korea it was selected “Book of the Year” by local governments and universities in 2024, proving its enduring power as literary therapy. Life Pattern Korea.
We sometimes wish we could turn back time to undo our regrets. But is erasing those moments truly wise? Could we remain who we are if such memories vanished? If only that memory were gone, would happiness follow forever? Marigold Mind Laundry is a healing-fantasy novel set in a suspicious, mysterious laundry that appears one midnight on a hill. A woman with a chalk-white face, chopstick-thin body, and long black twisted hair brews warm tea daily for whoever arrives; those who drink it spill secrets they have never told anyone. Life Pattern Korea. They beg her to wipe away painful memories like stains—yet will they leave the laundry truly happy?
Eleven years after winning a literary prize and selling half a million copies with books such as It’s Okay to Live as You Wish, author Yun Jung-eun returns with this full-length novel. Through the stories and heartfelt conversations of chance visitors, she warmly traces the inner changes that come to the shop owner, Ji-eun. Tales mirroring our own lives—poverty-stricken childhoods, betrayal by a lover, lives lost in the glare of wealth, wounds from school bullying, youth sacrificed for children—touch the heart. Life Pattern Korea. On a day when you feel cornered and wish you could live without a heart, Marigold Mind Laundry offers a refuge where hurts can be shaken off.
