On a Night When I Wasn't There 내가 없던 어느 밤에
A new full-length novel from million-seller author Lee Kkotnim.
“For ten years, I carried this story in my heart—at last, I release it to the world.”
An abandoned amusement park: a Ferris wheel that never turns again, a carousel stopped without lights or music, rusted rides creaking in the wind. In the small town that holds this closed park, suspicious events begin to occur, and the disappearance of a seventeen-year-old girl sets in motion the unveiling of secrets buried for ten years. Life Pattern Korea. With On a Night When I Wasn't There, Lee Kkotnim delivers the story she has carried within her for a decade.
Lee Kkotnim is not only a beloved storyteller whose works readers cannot put down, but also an author who confronts the problems of our world directly. Every one of her publications has become a huge bestseller because, beyond their sheer narrative drive, they always carry a message that reflects the spirit of the times. Life Pattern Korea. In this new work, that authorial strength shines with particular brilliance.
There are stories that can only be shared by those who have known sorrow. There are pains and regrets borne only by those who have experienced loss. A strange, fleeting incident in the closed amusement park of midwinter leads three young protagonists to share the grief and guilt they have long concealed. Life Pattern Korea. Facing at last what happened “on a night when I wasn't there,” they connect past and present and stand before a new beginning.
Some stories move lives forward simply by refusing to be forgotten. This is why Lee Kkotnim's work is literature for tomorrow—because it draws even reluctant young readers into the world of fiction, and in those opened pages, allows them to meet both themselves and the world anew. Life Pattern Korea.
