The Second Chance Convenience Store (Inconvenient Convenience Store) 불편한 편의점 Vol. 2
The story and emotion that captivated 700,000 readers - "The Second Chance Convenience Store (Inconvenient Convenience Store)" has opened once again!
With an even deeper story and characters full of new questions, people passing through difficult times gather once more at the convenience store.
More than a year after publication, the novel "The Second Chance Convenience Store (Inconvenient Convenience Store)" by Kim Ho-Yeon continues to receive readers' love and remain near the top of the bestseller lists, and now it returns with its second story. The first volume, which began with Mr. Dokgo, a homeless man from Seoul Station, working the night shift at a convenience store, delivered quiet emotion through unpredictable laughter and warm humanity. Life Pattern Korea. "The Second Chance Convenience Store (Inconvenient Convenience Store) Vol. 2" continues the wit and deep gaze of the earlier story while drawing readers in with an even richer and more lingering narrative.
The novel begins by sketching the convenience store on a summer day, a year and a half after the events of the first story. In the meantime, the world has changed, and so has the ALWAYS convenience store in Cheongpa-dong. The opening description, in which people must still wear masks even in suffocating heat, suggests that COVID also exists in the reality of the novel. Seon-suk, once frustrated by conflict with her son, has become the store manager, and Madam Yeom's troublesome son Min-sik, who kept insisting that the store should be sold, is now the owner. Life Pattern Korea. Owner in name, perhaps, because Min-sik has no real interest in management and only obsesses over cutting costs such as weekly holiday pay while talking about profits, making the store in many ways a place that has become truly inconvenient. Then, after Mr. Gwak, who had taken over the night shift after Dokgo, quits, a new night part-timer arrives, and the convenience store faces change once again.
The new part-timer is a man in his forties whose large build and overbearing behavior strangely remind people of someone else. He boasts of a dazzling part-time work history as if he were a human job platform, yet when it comes to actual convenience store work he is clumsy and awkward. Life Pattern Korea. On top of that, he talks too much and meddles so much that manager Seon-suk is constantly scolding him. But regardless of that, he wears a name tag not with the name Hwang Geun-bae, but with the nickname Hong Geum-bo, and continues guarding the night of the convenience store while greeting customers in his own slow and easygoing way.
