"Do you know what to do when you get caught in a whirlpool?
Don’t try to rise to the surface—hold your breath and dive to the bottom to escape."

A story of those soaked in wounds, drying themselves at their own pace, and wrapping each other’s scars until they see the rainbow again. Life Pattern Korea. A tale of fragile yet courageous growth—of how to swim through the torrent of time, and of a singular theory of love.

Set in Jinpyeong, a provincial town known for its reservoir and valleys, Riptide follows the meeting and love between two seventeen-year-olds, Dodam and Haesol. Their story begins when Dodam, visiting the reservoir with her father, sees a striking boy—Haesol—nearly drowning. She jumps in to save him, and from that moment, their connection begins.
Life Pattern Korea. What starts as a romantic, fated encounter quickly deepens. They share everything, hold no secrets, and grow close. But like a whirlpool that draws you in without notice, their love is not as calm as still water. A chance incident changes the course of their relationship.
As Dodam and Haesol become more than friends, a new tension emerges: Dodam discovers that Haesol’s mother and her own father may be having an affair. Furious, she decides to follow them one night with a lantern in hand. Life Pattern Korea.
But something unexpected happens. From that night on, everything changes—their relationship, their lives, and the town of Jinpyeong. What exactly was the connection between Haesol’s mother and Dodam’s father? And what really happened that night?
