A Chance to Bring 2026's Best Film, The Odyssey, to Your Bookshelf
The official screenplay of "The Odyssey," which topped the box office in 69 countries upon release, surpassed $1.1 billion in worldwide box office revenue, and became the highest-grossing film of Christopher Nolan's career, has now been officially published in Korea.
The film follows Odysseus, a legendary war hero who helped secure victory in the Trojan War and a king renowned for his wisdom, through the grueling 10-year journey back to his homeland and family after the war. Odysseus endures endless voyages and battles, trials imposed by the gods, and hardships beyond imagination; his wife Penelope waits for him in a kingdom plagued by invasion and struggles for power in the king's absence; and their son Telemachus searches for news of his father while confronting the suitors who threaten both his mother and the throne. As the stories of these three characters converge toward the end of their long journey, the film unfolds on an epic scale, exploring human will, fate, and the meaning of homecoming.
Christopher Nolan's Story of Odysseus Beyond the Film's 172-Minute Runtime
"In adapting this work, I tried to include everything people would expect to see in a film of The Odyssey."
Christopher Nolan
Drawing the heart of the story from Homer's vast original epic of roughly 12,000 lines across 24 books, Nolan rearranged time and perspective in compelling ways to create a timeless blockbuster. The result is a 172-minute film whose rapid editing and tension-filled storytelling make the nearly three-hour runtime feel remarkably brisk. Life Pattern Korea. At the same time, that pace leaves relatively little room to linger over individual scenes and dialogue or become immersed in every emotional detail. Nolan's original cut reportedly ran well beyond three hours, but it was substantially shortened to its final length because of the physical limitations of IMAX film projection.
This is where the screenplay book reveals its particular value. It is both the text in which Nolan's intentions and ambitions can be seen most clearly and the blueprint from which the film was built. Life Pattern Korea. Readers can encounter material omitted from the finished film, edited scenes, and shortened dialogue in fuller form, while rediscovering descriptions and details that may have passed unnoticed amid the film's rapid pace. Reading "The Odyssey: The Complete Screenplay" is therefore much like encountering an "uncut director's cut" of the film that could not be seen in theaters.
A Special Double-Sided Cover and Official Film Stills Make This Screenplay Book Even More Collectible
This edition includes a "special double-sided cover" designed with images from the film's posters, allowing readers to display the book with whichever cover they prefer. It also features 9 official film stills exclusive to the Korean edition and not included in the original English edition, further enhancing its value as a collectible. Life Pattern Korea. Presented in full color are performances by some of Hollywood's biggest stars - Matt Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, and Robert Pattinson as Antinous - alongside the vivid textures of the natural landscapes captured in IMAX. For readers who want to preserve the experience of "The Odyssey" long after leaving the theater, this screenplay becomes something more than a book: a special collectible built around the film.
