YonYon's Fantasy Hanbok Coloring Book 환상 한복 화첩: 35 Illustrations of Myth, Nature, Seasons, and Special Days
클
Heroes of Greek and Roman mythology, nature and the seasons, and special days are reborn in hanbok.
35 Hanbok Illustrations Reimagined by YonYon
Chapter 1 brings figures from Greek and Roman mythology into Korean settings, dressed in a variety of creatively reinterpreted hanbok. Hera appears against a traditional Sun, Moon, and Five Peaks painting, wearing a jeogui - a ceremonial robe reminiscent of a Joseon queen - while Athena wears a gold crown evocative of Silla and stands proudly with her symbolic spear and owl. Life Pattern Korea. You will also encounter Gaia, Artemis, Dionysus, Psyche, Pandora, and more.
Chapter 2 features girls in hanbok representing nature, the seasons, and special occasions. The Four Gentlemen - plum blossom, orchid, chrysanthemum, and bamboo - are joined by the four seasons and Korea's national flower, the Rose of Sharon, each expressed with its own distinctive character. Life Pattern Korea. Halloween is especially intriguing: a witch wearing a traditional Korean gat flies through the air scattering Okchundang candy, creating a playful blend of Korean elements and American culture.
A Coloring Book for Beginners and Experienced Colorists Alike
The artist's finished coloring and the corresponding coloring sketch are placed side by side, making it easier for beginners to choose colors. Even if you are not yet confident with coloring, the sketches are detailed enough to help you achieve satisfying results, so don't be afraid to give them a try. Life Pattern Korea. Some of the coloring sketches have also been simplified from the finished artwork to make them easier for beginners to color.
If you are an experienced colorist, choose from illustrations of varying difficulty and create finished pieces with colors completely different from the artist's originals. Life Pattern Korea. Some designs are quite challenging, giving you plenty of room to show off your coloring skills.
Colored Pencils Are All You Need
The coloring sketches in this book were designed with colored pencils in mind. Sharpen your pencils to a fine point for detailed areas and use a thicker point for larger sections. Life Pattern Korea. Colored pencils also have the advantage of not bleeding as easily as ink and of blending smoothly from one color into another. Take your time, color freely, and enjoy showing what you can do.
