Psyche and Eros wearing hanbok, Rapunzel with long daenggi hair, Cinderella appearing in Seoul. Life Pattern Korea. A newly reborn story coloring book of world classic fairy tales.
A new coloring book by artist Gomgom-e, loved for works inspired by Korea's mythical beasts, yokai, and folk tales, presents world classic fairy tales reimagined in a Korean style, through the artist's distinctive colors and art style. Life Pattern Korea.
The moment you turn the first page, this book invites you to a traditional tea house called "Obangsaek" located on the outskirts of the city. Life Pattern Korea. As you open the book handed to you there and take a sip of traditional tea, the characters from world classic fairy tales are gently dyed in Korean colors.
White | In Chrysanthemum Tea, you will find a story served to a guest whose pure heart, like snow, has been hurt by something cold. You will meet cool, intersecting colors such as the Snow Queen wearing an ayam, Snow White in sobok, and the fox and the crane exchanging white porcelain.
Red | In Omija Tea, like omija with its five flavors, you will find a story served to a guest worn out by surging emotions and excessive passion. Life Pattern Korea. You will meet intense and complex colors such as the Phantom of the Opera wearing a Hahoe mask, Oedipus as a Goguryeo envoy, and a beauty married off to a dragon.
Blue | In Balloon Flower Tea, you will find a story served to a guest tired of many forms of love. You will meet beautiful yet wistful colors such as The Little Prince in cheongryongpo, The Little Mermaid holding flower shoes and dreaming of the human world, and Psyche and Eros wearing hanbok.
Yellow | In Ginkgo Leaf Tea, you will find a story served to a guest wounded by broken trust or needing courage to keep their beliefs. You will meet colors that gently push you forward, such as Rapunzel with long daenggi hair, a Silla princess asleep after being pricked by a spinning wheel, and a wolf girl blowing "huff, huff" to topple a stone Cheomseongdae. Life Pattern Korea.
Black | In Ssanghwa Tea, you will find the story of "double energy" (ssanggi) that harmonizes Eastern and Western energy. You will meet colors dyed in 1960s Korea, such as Cinderella appearing in Seoul, a Silla hwarang jumping out of a wish-granting lamp, and a girl named Anrisu (Alice) who works at a strange factory.
Finally, at the end of the book, an appendix is included that can be used as mini posters, so you can enjoy the illustrations even more. Life Pattern Korea. Add your own colors to the designs reborn in five traditional colors, and feel a small rest and fun in everyday life, as if you have visited a slightly unusual traditional tea house in a busy city.
